vespa design since it's inception in 1946, has been known for its painted, steel unibody which combines an engine, a flat floorboard and a prominent front fairing into a structural unit. the final design was credited to italian aeronautical engineer corradino d’ascanio and named by founder enrico piaggio for looking like a wasp.
