milan design week began back in 1961 as a furniture fair called salone del mobile at rho fiera fairground. since its inception six decades ago, the annual furniture fair has grown to become the largest in the world, with more than 2,300 companies showcased over a space of 210,000 sqm. now known simply as milan design week, the yearly event encompasses both salone del mobile and fuorisalone — a series of exhibitions scattered across different parts of the city. attracting approximately 500,000 international visitors each year, milan design week is the go-to destination for designers, architects, and industry professionals looking for the latest trends and innovations in the world of design.
