the ‘grandvalira restaurant’ by stone designs combines the essence of a mountain village atmosphere with a simple and functional treatment of space. the solanelles and cubil buildings are located in the andorra alpine range on the border of spain and france. the project reinterprets local values and habits with unnecessary elements stripped back to create a warm shelter that makes people feel at home during rough wintry days.
enhancing the comforting feeling of being in an alpine cabin, pine wood and wool upholstery are contrasted with robust furniture pieces. a variety of different designs are incorporated into the one layout, offering visitors a chance to choose where to sit according to their mood. the wide range comes together to work as a whole, complimented by the snowy mountain views from the large windows.
