collection of rings

Jewelry contains memories. Experiences and events are embodied in a small and intimate object which holds a special meaning to its owner.

Just as the Japanese culture is composed of different concepts, so does the encounter between the personal and meticulous handiwork and the modern, industrial technology creates a new complete object which holds its own merit.

The materials from which the jewelry is composed may seem to contrastat first. However the folded aluminum which holds the folded paper results in a jewelry that has volume and strong construction but is almost weightless.

The use of paper led to the use of photos as the main source of color in the work. Photographs allow the viewer a glimpse to moments in my trip to Japan, and captivate my memories of that trip. The folds distorts, chances and hides the picture, but not it’s meaning.
