atelierii + just make design: luxurious home in black serenity

evoking an air of mystery, the dark interior of ‘home in black serenity’ by taiwanese firms atelierii + just make design, seeks to create a sense of overall luxury. located in taipei, taiwan the residence is defined by its unique material application – various natural stones help to both unify and separate the interior elements. upon entering, a rough wall is presented that continues to feature throughout, providing a consistent, textural background.

‘black is the color of the hidden, the secretive and the unknown, creating an air of mystery.’ says the architects.

based on this alchemist approach, the individual functions are separated by the different use of materials, while the interrelationship between the areas is provided through visual connections. a secretive corridor features five, hidden doors to the bedrooms, with each given a private en-suite. the living, kitchen and dining areas are arranged across a large open-plan volume, with the main dining table positioned in the front hallway, separating the public and private sections.
