designer's own words:

Design should be simple. More value for less money. This concern is especially relevant when designing for a user who has very little money. youBuild cart design allows the user, homeless or not, to bring his own resources to the design and subsidize his own cart. They bring the raw materials of this design: wooden pallets, bike wheels and mop handles, a charity would provide the molded plastic handle and wheel clips. This simple manufacture allows for very low price. Only two molded plastic pieces.
This design is not only for homeless in cities, but for victims of natural disasters. When food aid comes to areas with damaged infrastructures, it is very difficult to distribute it. This has been the case in Afghanistan since their recent earthquake, youBuild kits could be attached to the standard pallets delived to the region with food and easily navigate the steep mountain roads.
youBuild empowers the user by engaging them in the design process. It enables the provider by only requiring the manufacture of two pieces.
