Y Stool by Fukutoshi Ueno from australia
designer's own words:
these pieces are inspired by the waterlily upon which the figure of buddha sits in meditation. they are circular in shape with striking colours and shapes radiating from a central point. the upholstery is covered by woven materials. the wood is local thai material – teak or rosewood – or recycled timber, and the twisted legs, requiring high quality craftsmanship, create a distinctive identity of the piece. another significant inspiration were the designs and ambience of the jim thompson house in bangkok, where thai outdoor breezes mingle with elegant european touches.
