the form of the lever came about when I was playing around with some modeling clay. looked at from the front and top it was the same shape, only reversed. it seemed to be an interesting volume. a cardboard and paper mock-up proved that it had a good feel to it as well. since a standard round rose would be used, the only remaining question was the connection between the two. dimensions were entered into cad and the appropriate joint worked itself out. another mock-up made of plaster confirmed that it all looked and handled well. some basic renderings followed and here you have it, the xia interior door lever handle. material of choice being brass with any mat finish.
