wood & osb
in this experiment a regular door handle is produced by two peaces of round wood. the joint is made by an inserted foam glued osb skeg. to prevent the metal square shank damaging the wood, an extra metal sleeve is attached. the idea of using wood is based on the idea that it only takes some centuries of solar energy to grow a tree. This is not long if compared to fossil energy and commodities, needed to melt metals or to produce plastics. the result of this experiment depends on the amount of needed energy and pollution caused by producing oriented strand board (osb), foaming construction glue to make the (drawn) connection and paint or wax to protect the wooden handle.
