designer's own words:
Home interior doors are meant for privacy, i.e. only the locked position. Door seems to be functional only when it is locked, otherwise the unlocked open door becomes a restriction. When the door is open it contradicts the concept of "open" because it actually is restricting view.
Windows on the other hand are a letway/view to otherside. While there are no windows used in the home interiors, this leads to less interaction/viewing between rooms.
Windows and doors are opened during the daytime for their specific reasons. While windows appear successful in their purpose, door do not do so. You open a window for freshness, view and to interact with the other side. opening a door doesnt do so, it restricts the view.
The proposed "WIN-DOOr" IS A WINDOW, which is used when required.
This door when unlocked can become a window for the other part view, to enhance visual communication and joy. As you turn the knob of door you are eager to meet or see someone. The controlled opening of the louvre adds to the experience of viewing someone in a fun filled sophesticated way. The louvre open as if revealing something in a subtle way. You dont have to gaze through the door crack, you can see through the opening door. You can smile as you unlock, even before opening the door, and enhance the joy of inviting someone.
Turning of knob is directly linked to the opening of louvres, after the door has been unlocked. One can choose whether to open the louvres or not. The proposed material is aluminium.
"WIN-DOOr". There is a door in the window and a window in a door. Now mothers can keep a watch, what their little ones are doing.
