white line project by yuriko tanaka from japan
designer's own words:
The white lines on the road are here and there in our ordinary life. They are found everywhere in outside. Using white lines make us feel nature as familiar as white lines. This project has three parts: watching, noticing, and preserving nature.
First, you can see beautiful cherry blossoms in spring. Cities look bad at the end of the season. Blossoms, however, fall on the trees that were drawn with white lines on the road. At the same time, you can find a cherry tree on the surface of the road this time again.
Second, you come to the region where a lot of CO2 exists while you are driving. Then, the mark "CO2" appears to driver's presence. At that time, the driver can notice the problem of the environment of surroundings for the first time.
Third, white seed leaves are drawn from the white lines of the road when you're walking in the green belt in the city. These are the signs that there is green that should be preserved. The marks of the seed leaves support the hearts to preserve important green.
In the end, our life filled with the atmosphere which let us pay attentions to nature if the marks like these are drawn from the white lines among the city where we live in every day.
