this piece is very different from what you would normally see on your door, the first thing that will catch your eye is a wooden handle, we have become used to having metal handles and nothing else, when there are many durable hard wearing woods that look so much better than metal. the wood i chose was wenge which has a lovely chocolate brown look and is very hard wearing. The second thing that might strike you is the metal that follows the curves of the wood, this metal comes in powder form then once mixed with the two catalysts turns to a paste which then hardens and can be finished with a wonderful shine. i chose to polish the wood so the metal would get a beautiful finish this made the grain take on a very interesting grey colour when it hits the light, i was excited with this finish as the chocolate brown of the wood, the gold shine of the metal and the aluminium grey taken up by the grain complement each other so well and along with the natural feel the curves and wood give this handle, it makes a wonderful piece to have in any home.
