wave multifunctional seat

wave multifunctional seat by carlos holguin from france

designer's own words:

The project is a multifunctional chair. It's based on the observation of the use teenagers do of regular furniture, which is usually not the regular use and adut would do. They like to swing on chairs, sit on the floor laying back against the bed an so on. It's an object where the boy or girl can lay down to relax and read a book (or more probably listen to their's MP3 player), as well as sit down with a friend to discuss, or sit to play on a game console. The simple form of the object allows it to be placed in many different possitions. While it's on the ground it can be a bed, or a seat, but leaned aganinst the wall it can be another sort of chair, and turned upside down it can serve as a short table, it can also be hanged on the wall to save some room, etc... It's open enough so that teenage users find as many ideas of use as they please. It's made in wood without any color so that boys (and girls) can paint it, make grafittis on it, or that graphics be produced to be sticked on (as they would do with a rollerboard). Even through a website users could exchange decoration ideas or images to stick on the Wave. And for it's made in plywood, it's cost is low to fit in a teenager's budget.
