Volve 94 by Beau Weber from usa
designer's own words:
As in any project I consume myself with I start with raw form exploration models. Cardboard works best for me, it is easy for me to visualize what is and what can be, explain material thickness, and translate into a finished product. All forms are derived with the term "revolve" in mind. Within my cardboard form world I started to experienced a beautiful negative space in which I realized a traditional light bulb could not invade. The flexible OLED panel quickly became the focal point and surrounds the negative space. I believe by revolving the form around a central light source the material allows the OLED to speak for itself by capturing and harnessing the rays of light within its mass.
The name Volve 94 is a collaboration between the term revolve and the number of teeth it takes to revolve which is 94 and happens to be the year I was born as well. Volve 94 features a body composed of four sand molded aluminum components, a wall bracket, body bracket, round body encasing the OLED, and a dimming switch on the very front. Ninety four glass molded triangular teeth configured naturally around the body ring compose the exterior diameter.
