designer's own words:
It begins with a connection
URBAN NOMAD HOME (UNh) is a multifunctional and transforming clothing design that can serve as jacket, sleeping pad and backpack. Our Urban Nomad Home (UNh) design has appearance, energy and accessories. It contains portable Wifi transmitter, solar panel, portable charger, bota water bag, water filter and headlamp.
UNh is waterproof and windproof also providing warmth & breathability. It also contains multiple internal and externals pockets/compartments useful for organising and separating contents. A full length zipper can connect two or more UNh.
Our design consist of self-inflating sleeping pad that offers low weight, compressibility and sleeping comfort. They provide insulation to protect you from the cold ground and cushioning in order to get a good night's sleep. During the night bottom of the UNh serves as part of sleeping pad and during the day bottom of the jacket is removed and placed in a backpack.
Solar panels on the jacket are there in order to collect solar power for charging various gadgets. UNh also contains headlamp as light source and it can be powered by solar energy. Our bota water bag and portable water filter will help you get healthy clean drinking water.
Our design team primarily intended to offer UNh to the homeless to ease their life on city streets. Of course UNh design also has a different purpose and use.
The patterns we use in our designs have an effect on everybody's perception. Colors are vibrant nad hospitable and they show enthusiasm, spirit and sincerity. Wearing our jacket you become object of beauty and you enhance the beauty of the city's landscape. UNh makes homless people signs in urban environments. Wearing UNh they will represent the coloroful visual detail that will be part of the urban environment. We try to create an environment that is visually appealing, convenient and comfortable to everybody. In a way our design harmonize the sign with the environment.
Homeless individuals are often subjected to stereotypes and confined to social roles that lead to the development of assumptive relationships with mainstream society. Our goal with this design is to break down stereotypes about homless people. We want to homeless and mainstream individuals to communicate with one another on a frequent basis. Our design provides access to the Internet via a WiFi node so that people in contact with the homeless can get internet signal or even charge their mobile devices. In this interaction, through social integration all participants will form a big urban tribe together.
Design of UNh seeks to link social environment , digital environment and the urban environment. In this way we will anticipate new environment.
