designer's own words:
as a designer of contemporary jewelry (unique pieces or prototypes)
i’m also interested in design and more specifically in the relationship of objects to the body.
i like the simple and well designed objects.
nice, but tactile
beautiful but functional
for this competition, the function makes sense.
my forms are born from an idea.
then i put it in shape with the most appropriate material or technique....
then,i think with my hands.
no sketches, no technical drawings
but I can send you the model!
inspired by traditional door handles of turned wood.
but cut in its length:
for a very contemporary line and for more comfort.
the flat side could be made of a polished mirror chrome (on brass) playing with reflections of the room.
Or the flat side could also be covered with phosphorescent paint to be visible at night, to find the door handle in a hotel for exemple…
by contrast, the turned portion could be in a matt metal,
or painted with fluorescent colors like yellow, green, pink or orange.
a mix between moldings of a bourgeois interior…
…and humor of contemporary design.
the model is made of turned wood ,
but i imagine the handle made in brass with a chrome finish :
matt for sobriety
or polished mirror, so the light can play in the faceted polished chrome…
