designer's own words:
Trama-Woven Tile.
This product is made from the reutilization of discarded Long Life packaging.
The final look is that of a decorative aluminized tile.
After cut into stripes and woven, the 250 x 250 mm squares are covered with a 2,5 mm thick layer of “Soluflex”, a bio organic resin, that turns it water resistant and easy to clean.
Those tiles can be used in wall covering, decoration, etc.
From an environmental point of view, the “Trama” production requires very little energy as it utilizes 100% of the original material, minimizing harmful output.
The production involves nothing but cutting, woving and covering with the bio resin.
It excludes the need of chemical process or wasting water to separate the various components of the Long Life packaging.
The “Trama” project is a way of avoiding that recyclable Long Life packaging goes to the dump yards.
Further, it encourages local craft workers and is a way to generate wealthier communities.
