concept: the door handle is the first and the last object that we touch when we enter or leave a house; so, the memory of that touch is very important. the most popular touching device now is the touchscreen. incorporating a touchscreen into a door handle will make this object a fun and very popular gadget in the house, this can be the revolution of the contact between man and the door handle. the device becomes more involving, so the memory of the touch is more important.

"touch i.t." is not just a gadget, it is a vision of sustainable house design, and also an opportunity for colombo design to engage in a research collaboration with a touchscreen producing company.

eco design: recyclable materials, existing touch screen technologies, uses r.f.i.d. sensors to control appliances, runs on rechargeable batteries, replaces cables, traditional on-wall switches, reduces building costs, saves energy.

safety: warning sensors for the controlled systems, easier to control the house protection systems, heating system.

technical specifications:
the "touch i.t." door handle is an integrated continuous design. the rose has the same section and finish as the knob, the knob is made of satin finish aluminum and it integrates all the circuits, wireless antenna, and batteries. the swinging handle is made f the same material and finish, it's rotation makes it easier to handle and view. the front of the door handle is the touchscreen, using existing technology in the field.

touchscreen functions:
- sensor door lock with fingerprint recognition.
- sensor light switch; this replaces the traditional switch on the wall, allowing designers to create a cleaner design for the walls; replaces a large amount of cables, saving resources and reducing building costs.
- intercom for easier control, also saves the presence of a traditional intercom on the wall.
- clock, calendar, information about weather when leaving the house.
- sensor sound system control.
- sensor thermostat, heating system control.
