explanation of design
My design objectives were to create a handle with the following characteristics:
A refined and discreet presence which gently plays with ones perception of thickness and mass.
A subtle interaction between rectangular and cylindrical shapes, with the curves suggesting the dynamic turning function of the object and the rectangular forms reflecting the solid presence of the door behind.
The visual weight of the cylinder carefully counterbalanced by the surprising, elegant slimness of the lever.
A product which, although proposed to be fabricated in brushed aluminium, can easily translate to a number of different finishes.
