Topple represents the exploration on how eating apples can be become a kids’ playful game.
This project tries to increase awareness of the healthiness of eating apples starting from the childhood. In this way, kids will increase their appetite of eating apples while playing with them.
This experimentation is carried out studying different way of how apple can be stored through the utilization of common wooden toys. The design inspiration comes from the transportation system with a mix of traditional Japanese culture. The following items are proposed: car, cargo ship, helicopter, truck, rocket, apple trees and Kokeshi doll hair style. In particular the experimentation with Kokeshi doll hair style can be enlarged to represent different hair styles, depending on the user preferences and the different traditional Japanese culture.
All the toys are made from wood, either natural or color finished. In particular, cypress is utilized since it is one of the most common Japanese wood essence. The construction of the individual pieces can be carried out either manually or through numerically controlled machinery, and the different pieces are interlocked each other without requiring any glue.
