the wood watch by inbal aderka from israel
designer's own words:
when a product has a universal iconic shape like a watch it is hard to look at it in any other way and in order to create a new icon you have to break the old one apart in your mind and imagine it all over again.
watches are usually made of different kinds of metal because of its obvious quality's, but in order to find a new shape for a watch i decided to look in other worlds of different materials combined with metal.
while wood is a main material in clocks it is not common in watchmaking because its too rough for delicate tiny details.
i looked for small details made in wooden furniture and made them big details in the watch design.
the main inspiration for the watch was classical wooden drawer tracks and the "dovetail"
wood connection (a common way to connect wood parts with a negative angle).
this created a whole new way of wearing a watch.
