the wagon by andy lam from canada
designer's own words:
The Wagon is a half furniture, half toy structure. It can be a couch for the teens to read and write. A bed for relaxing, enjoying the music, chatting with friends, and a secret hideaway dome.
Each set of the Wagon consists of one 92cmx92cm (3’ x 3’) main board, 1 mattress, 1 drawer, 1 desk, cushions and 1 set of tent. All these items are to be packed and sold as 1 unit. 2 of these units when linked will make a perfect dome for a teen. Several of these when linked can be a heaven for the teens.
The main board is a blow molded plastic part with 2 pairs of handles on each side for easy carrying. On top of the main board is a mattress with holes for inserting the cushions and the desk. These holes give the teens the freedom to arrange their own Wagons, for instance, they can arrange the cushions to form a back rest and arm rest and be the King in it. A very personal Wagon can be shaped depending on the teens’ creativities. All other empty holes are to be stuffed with filler cushions.
Underneath the main board is a big drawer for packing the accessories for shipping, and later on for the teens to hide their treasures. Wheels with brakes are assembled for mobility. A pull stick is provided for pulling the Wagon.
Most teens love to do their things in a covered area. The Wagon’s tent will be a perfect and private dome for them. To fold and unfold the tent, the teens can simply pull the ribs along the incremented slots. After removing the drawer, the Wagon can be used for outdoor camping and racing as well. The shape of the Wagon is both cute and cyber and it will be appealing to both the young and elder teens.
Each Wagon is estimated to cost around 70 US dollars if mass produced in China. The Wagon will be perfect for replacing the bed in the bedrooms. It is ideal for schools, playgrounds and daycare centres.
