The Transition by Tiffany Loy from singapore
designer's own words:
“The Transition” is a set of self-drawing curtains that sense the arrival of the guest, and scrunches up according to his silhouette to welcome him into a new space. In this concept, to anticipate is to look forward to the arrival of guests, to welcome them in a delightful manner as they transit and enter our space. How it works: motion sensors are mounted above the doorway to register the silhouette of the approaching body. The curtain’s fabric is manipulated in a way that allows it to be scrunched in an organised manner, with the attachment of drawstrings within its stitches. The strings can be drawn using servo motors mounted along the parameter.
