designer's own words:

The School of Kimono Study and Celebration is a split structure where kimono is not only worn, but celebrated, revered, and studied. Located on a site in the charming Asakusa district of Tokyo, the building houses two primary functions: A school where fashion design students would study kimono for one year, and a community space where events like “Coming of Age Day”, weddings, and other celebrations would take place. Major features of the building include a gallery space where exhibits, fashion shows, lectures, and movies would occur for the interest of the general public, and Otan colored light (the only bright color on the buildings sleek, minimal exterior design, and large glass swivel window doors that serve as a bridge between the two buildings.
