the real gold by deborah ferreira de avelino from brazil
designer's own words:
2/3 of the Earth's population lives with less than a dollar per day. The richer minority are still oriented by a throw-away pattern of economy. Huge amount of products involves precarious conditions for workers; harmful materials and polluting process; but the CEOs and the shareholders of this companies are interested only about the MONEY. Meanwhile, the buyers of these products contributes for this irresponsible and suicidal cycle. If we don't change some attitudes, we may reach an status which not even all the gold or money in the world will be able to buy us the essencial: healthy food, pure and abundant water, fresh air, adequate climate and so on. We can even face more violence: a) from that poor majority that sadly will increase if we don't distribute our wealthness; b) having more wars from those who wants to enrich (oil, water, food). Preserving nature by rethinking the size of our ecological footprints is one way to achieve worthy and real quality of life while we still can.
