Ear Piece Clothestand is calligraphic. The written character, a response to words of concern. It takes the green message literally and metaphorically into our living environment being a practical, simple and sculptural device for the open storage of clothing and accessories. Ear Piece is for many living spaces and situations, bringing the global user a fresh approach for everyday clothing storage and display. Ear Piece is hearing, open for listening, for wearing and for doing. There is no hiding from home truths.

As many of us respond to the increasing agricultural impact of our clothing manufacture and we begin to choose the least toxic natural fibres such as organic cotton, bamboo and hemp. Similarly this iconic furniture item also intends to facilitate an awareness for change in perception, value and eco lifestyles.

Fashioned from the most sustainable plantation grown board (either hoop-pine veneer plywood or non-formaldehyde based industrial hemp fibre board) then waxed and polished the Ear Piece gives a simple function of everyday rituals of hanging and folding garments a new green context of examination and understanding. There is little room for hidden or toxic by-products in this closet.

Forming the Chinese character the routed or laser cut bars fit together alternately vertical and horizontal in a “constructivist assembly” acknowledging simple industrial component repetition ending each axel point with fixing discs. The “Ear” character is comprised by the top hanging rail for two lengths (shirts and trousers or dresses), mid shelves and angled lower base shelf.
