The Doors(sssss)

Issue

One of limitation of the architecture is not fit for behavior people.Due to an architectural design processes are started by form, structure and function.They become a "dead space".It seem "a machine plan" that does not response to people need.More complete design make people feel lack of interactive to own space and neighbor space.

Goal

For this design, I would like people to participate in the process of door movement.The aim of moving door is created a variety space for multi-behavior user.The space and form are generate by motion and reflect to the relationship between a size of space, form , a number of door and user on the same place.The massive form is transformed to be opening space by door motion.The design is revealed to blend space between indoor and outdoor through the motion.

Process

I would like to processing 72 doors motion which located on the circle plan which no clue show way in and out.User can access in the installation area from every where of plan.The doors wide from 1,000 until 5,000 mm. and installing in simple grid.When user push or pull the door that will make the space keep changing and the room size also changing by how wide of the door degree.The simple thing like open the door make people notice the variety form on the same area as narrow , wide,long,deep.That is where the equation come from "Space = amount of the doors=degree=motion"

User can see the other doors motion by look up to the ceiling and see the reflection from a mirror canvas which reflected all motion of the doors on the plan.Each door will have diagram which make from magnet attached on the door for giving information to user know how that door making an impact on the total space.

This process show how the motion of the doors impact on infinity space transition.How the ordinary door which function only pull and push can create the new size and different of atmosphere.

Structure and Construction methods

I would like to use the simple ordinary material and in the other way have to feel light , flexible and strong which can respond to the motion of the door.So the material for the door will make from steel plate with 1 mm.thickness ,2000 mm. height and 1000-5000 mm.wide.All edges are rolled for hinge and door handle.At the corner of door,It make from small wheel for control movement of the door.The pillar is diameter of 50 mm, for rotate of door and use for a column structure to support the mirror canvas roof.

Result

The motion of doors installation bring to the equation between "Space" and "Movement" which make by human and nature.This equation is not only science but mixing with aesthetic as well.That is why this installation is the design which expand the boundary of architecture,bring people close to architecture,and create a common door to be un-common space.

The motion is a symbol of driving architecture in the future from Plastic Architecture period to Atmospheric Architect period.
