Tendon #getdislocated by friso dijkstra from netherlands

TENDON
#getdislocated
While studying at Design Academy Eindhoven in 2005, I learned about 2K injection moulding. The idea for a spectacles hinge was born instantly when looking at a toothbrush.
Years later I picked up the concept again and made sketches of a silicone tendon with a ball-socket-hinge inside; as in Bones + tendon.
The human body has different kinds of hinges, but the ball-socket-hinge in our shoulders and pelvis are the most fascinating. It, allthough very painfully and not to be advised, can *pop-out* and *pop-back-in*, as if we are a plastic doll that’s being played with roughly.
This dislocating phenomenon has a weird aesthetic and magic quality to it; one that’s easily affiliated with (extreme) sports. Prestige comes with pain and heroes are made of it.
What in my opinion would make this product great is feeling it *pop*, having the temples closed without leaving a gap or showing part of the hinge, as a shoulder.
The design has been kept simple, contemporary timeless, to let the silicon details stand out without having to be too dominant.

TENDON
Dictated By Evolution. Don’t Break, Dislocate.
> The model is designed for sports, but also to function as a leisure accessory, fitting an active lifestyle.
> Tendon T-Bridge is formed by the frame and a silicon ‘tendon’ for comfort.
> The silicon tendon can lead to other future functions:
- Pro sport series
- Field combat series
- Tech integration, because the silicone can very well hold and protect wires and electronics from water, dust, shocks and rupture.

BRUISED COLORSCHEME
Patina Of The Human Skin
Bruises that are a result of the healing process are a temporary natural patina of the human skin. These colors serve as an inspiration for the Tendon colorscheme.

2K injection moulding & ultrasonic welding
> Development should lead to a production method in which the frame and ‘tendon’ are produced together using 2K injection moulding. The temples are produced seperately and attached using ultrasonic welding.
What this offers is the ball-socket-hinge to be slightly greased before being joined with the frame. Some free space inside the ‘tendon’ gives the ball-socket space to make the bend.
> The key feature would be the ball-socket-hinge that only *pops* towards the outside under high stress, but under normal circumstances delivers enough push inwards against the head.
Dislocating the temples inwards should go quite easy.

Men loosening themselves to feel dislocated; be free, somewhere else, outside the city. All this with an Oakley Tendon in their hands, which is not to be advised with any regular type of shades.
