Tact-Dial

designer's own words:

Tact-Dial is a watch designed for users in situations in which simply looking at a watch, cell phone, or wall clock is either not an option or outright dangerous. After studying the human nervous system, especially focusing on the wrist, I set out to design a watch that was visually and habitually familiar, but brought with it a new an innovative twist. The watch utilizes two contact points, one representing hours, the other minutes, on the underside of the watch face to give its users an accurate reading of time without the use of another hand or a neglectful gaze. The top of the wrist will not only feel the pressure of the contact points, the temperature of the milled steel, and the movement of arm hair, but it will also feel the slight "bump" of pressure every hour, signifying a change in time. Another feature of the watch is the popping noise it emits every hour accompanying the increase in pressure. Careful attention was paid to the watch face to make it tactile yet reminiscent of a traditional watch face.
The watch is almost entirely composed of injection molded plastic with a few side actions and pressed steel.
