Survive!

Survive! by Hanan bensho from israel

designer's own words:

From an evolutionary point of view, our daily objects are helpless as newborn babies, which have never been developed to take care for themselves, to assure they continue functioning- or in other words - to survive.

Instinct! is a collection of case studies which started from daily situations where providing to our daily objects the urge of living, hence, the will to survive, can be helpful.

It is influenced by Carl Sims’s research about evolutions of virtual creatures. I think that taking that concept into the real world is anticipated by common users…

Imagine a world which mobile phones can recharge themselves, a glass of water has a notion whether it is too close to the edge of the table and might be fell down and break, or a vacuum cleaner is aware whether its cable is stretched and the plug will be pulled out.. Not only notifying us about their emergency situation, but actually solve their situation by themselves…

Instinct! series let them the option to ‘grow up’ and take care of themselves.

We are developing super sophisticated robots that help to elderly people to do shopping, cleaning, even some that are imitating mammals and humans, but the simple objects are still standing still, static, instead of having, some kind of simple life form, similar to bacterias.
