designer's own words:
maybe crazy or conceptual ideas can invade my mind when i think about teenagers. but what about designing a practical solution for the lack of space, that some teenagers my have in their rooms. the main function of this concept is to create a comfortable and collapsible seating solution. mimicking the simple system of a door, the two panels are joined on the back with integrated hinges. when the two panels are spread apart, it creates a strong triangle structure. the panels made out of bamboo panels are cut in a pseudo chair shape to diminish the amount of material used during the process and make the chair lightweight. the seat is made out a sturdy but soft fabric. stainless steel poles hold the fabric and provide structure to frame. these poles interlock with panels through a male female connection. to fold the chair, just lift the stainless steel poles and retire the seat and back. the chair is 36 inches long x 31iinches height x 34 inches wide (when open).
