suiting cases by ana maria mendoza loyola from mexico

designer's own words:

this door handle is inspired on vintage suitcases.
the opening of any door and finding what’s behind it can be thought as an exploration or as the “travelling” to new experiences, livings or spaces. when thinking of the word "travel" the first image that comes to my mind is invariably a suitcase.
on the other hand vintage styles, colors and materials create the warm sensation of the known and familiar, same that evokes a welcoming feeling. quoting the renowned architect juhani pallasmaa "the door handle is the handshake of the building" a question followed this quote in the article, what kind of handshake does your door present? hence the importance of the "kind of handshake" wanted to portray by this door handle.
this handle is visualized to suit, for example, the trend used in modern lofts, which serve as offices, homes or working studios.
the materials used would be primarily brass with a mat chrome finish, which are both, the material and the finish, currently used in many of the handles produced by colombo. and the detail in leather, with the purpose to proved the warmth welcoming feeling and to link the handle to the material used in vintage suitcases.
