spoon tiles by joshua doherty from canada
designer's own words:
During a deep exploration of the form, function, history and cultural place of the spoon, I wondered if spoons, central to the social and cultural activities of cooking and eating, and specifically to the kitchen, the heart of the home, could be symbolically and physically integrated into its structure? Spoon Tiles are the result.
The Tiles were first hand carved from wood, and were then moulded and slip-cast in porcelain. As tiles, the spoon becomes a striking architectural element. As spoons, the tiles provide a rich and satisfying tactile experience.
