Sliced is using light to reveal fine details from nature that we do not notice everyday, to create a sense of discovery each time someone turns on a light. The environment is the entrance of your warm home or hotel lobby for people to gather. It is for people who love to explore & touched by the moments of discovery, also for people who love to decorate their sweet home. With a simple sliced, Sliced brings people the surprise of life by looking into shadow, pattern, direction and material to create four different lighting techniques.
The material of the lights are 1/16 in white translucent acrylic combine with the process of cnc, vacuum form and laser cut.
I first start with define the patterns from the nature, and create the light from them. In order to aim the goal of create a sense of discovery each time when people turn on the light and disappear when people turn off the light, I try to design the light as flat as possible to get near to the wall.
In addition, I created a uniform connector system that that allow the light to be move and arrange on wall by the user. At the same time uniform connector make it easy to manufacture.
