A kitchen which makes cooking and having dinner the social heart of the living area requires one essential element: eye-contact and the possibility to chat during cooking. A kitchen placed inside the living area aften has one disadvantage: it shows the dirty dishes at times you don’t want to see them. And also: the kitchen is often just small enough to function, bur not large enough to enjoy the pleasure for cooking. The shift-rotate-kitchen is designed to be a free standing piece of furniture with enough sex-appeal to be at a prominent position in your living. It serves you with enough space to cook a nice dinner for your familiy or your friends but will not take in the precious space you need to accomodate all your friends for the party after dinner. When completely shifted together it acts like a simple closet with a bar at the side of the living room, an accesible sink at the side and all the necessary kitchenequipment as refridgerator, microwave and dishwasher at hand. When completely shifted outwards the inside radius is 2 meters: de maximum distance between you and the utensils you need is 4 m. Unshifted, it offers a spacious working area between the sink antd the stove. The air-suction hood is located in the non-sliding part of the kitchen and is above the stove when unshifted. Essential kitchen equipment is fitted in the standing part of the kitchen. The sink is served by flexible hoses, fitted inside the center of the standing part and the sliding part. The drain of the sink runs down the sliding part of the kitchen with a decline of 2 cm. per m. Besides the microwave, the dishwasher and the refridgerator the front side offers three additional closets, beneath the sink is a closet for towels. At the side of the living the kitchen is equipped with three closets and through a small door the refridgerator is accessible for your cooled drinks and the icecubes.
The shift-rotate-kitchen offers you spacious and visually pleasing piece of furniture for your kitchen needs,without dominating your living area. With a slight push the kitchen slides inwards and is closed when your friends arrive, supplying you with the space to accomodate all your friends during the party and it offers you a chic bar to offer them a drink.
