Scoop

Scoop by ben bangser from usa

designer's own words:

when starting to design for the colombo 'hands on door handles' competition, i walked over to my apartment's front door and grabbed the door handle as i normally would. i immediately noticed that my thumb rested awkwardly on the harsh corner created by the front and top surfaces of the handle. after some research, i found that many door handles have less harsh edges and many have convex curves, but none have a concave 'scoop' that caters to the thumb's comfort. after some time at the drawing table, i came up with 'scoop', it combines aesthetics and functionality, it cradles the thumb and 'beckons to be grabbed'. 'scoop' fits right in with the rest of the colombo door handle collection and belongs in modern homes.

manufacturing: 'scoop' could be cast out of brass the same way as most other colombo door handles and could come in a variety of finishes as typically offered by colombo.
