scarab by marton toth from hungary
designer's own words:
the design was primarily inspired by the form of breaking planes. the first part of the design process was the shaping of the breaking planes. the next part was designing a base for that simple shape, since it couldn't yet function as a handle by itself. the result is a simple handle with an angular, perspectivic form. the clear, angular shape of the aluminium part - the plate with the double break - has a cold, rigid, sharp touch. it is mounted on a gemlike, glossy body, which follows the lines of the aluminium part. the base is made of brass with a white or dark grey finish, and the handle from aluminium. the handle is also reminiscent of a bug's wing, hence the name.
