Sasayaki Flowers by HN Woo from
designer's own words:
‘Sasayaki’ is a set of interactive sculptural flower duo that whispers Matsuyama’s stories and haiku to each other.
Sasayaki means ‘whispering’ in Japanese, and is inspired by elegant forms of flowers as well as Matsuyama‘s famous Haiku poet Masaoka Shiki and writer Natsume Sōseki.
These flower duo whispers the poet’s Haiku to each other, and the audience/visitors walking by can sneak in between them, and eavesdrop on their conversation of endless haiku readings.
Sasayaki utilizes waterproof speakers embedded inside of the flower heads. The stem and leaves are constructed with painted metal, and flower heads are made with soft-touch plastic material.
The podium that holds the flowers are to be constructed with either stone or concrete, with subtle water ripple pattern on them.
The flower duo can be made with variety of materials and colors, and can be exhibited both indoor and outdoor.
