1. Title of entry
ROOnighT is a compound word made from root - a mathematical symbol - and the noun night. Root has the meaning of dividing or multiplying. Having root as the motif and using the medium of light for a bicycle, the energy accumulated over the course of a day is distributed to people and the fun is doubled by using the light. Light is used at night - or a dark space - for cycling, increasing the level of safety. In addition, by parking bicycles in a dark space itself, the function of lighting (street lamp) is emphasized, setting off the feature of ROOnight in a dark space.

2. Design concept
The current trend is that with the problem of global warming due to indiscriminate use of fossil fuels, the number of people that ride a bicycle - an environmentally-friendly transportation method worldwide - is on the rise.

When it is in use, no other function can be performed. Taking note of this, the aim was to have functionality of distributing something to people when in use.

Root as a mathematical symbol has the meaning of dividing/multiplying.
By using this motif of root for a bicycle, the meaning of root (dividing/multiplying) was reinterpreted as light. By having bicycles function as part of public facilities at nighttime when usually they’re not in use, the aim was to distribute light to people like the meaning of root and double the emotional pleasure and convenience.

In ROOnighT, electrical energy is generated by the generator over the course of a day by self-exercise, and the energy gets stored in a storage installed in the interior of the frame. At nighttime, the stored energy gets converted to light energy and the polycarbonate frame emits light through O.L.E.D, transforming the bicycle into part of public facilities that brightens the darkness.

3. Target market
ROOnightT is a public bicycle located at public places in the heart of a city. It is lent free of charge to people who would like to use it as a means of transportation for going to and back from work or to people who visit the riverside on the weekend. It can be used at any time.
