rockabilly by david bim burton from uk

designer's own words:

The Rockabilly chair proposes to update the
modernist battlecry of “form follows function”.
By re-appropriating discarded objects found in
London skips, woodworker and craftsman Bim Burton
develops possibilities of a new and extended use
for ‘refuse’ altogether.
Applied to product design, the approach suggests
a novel way of perceiving junk and disposable
goods. In reducing an object to its physical
formwork and components, it can be re-applied and
introduced to other functions.
In cutting an old bath in half, and constructing
a bespoke pine base, we are served with an
ergonomic seating solution whilst also conserving
extra cubic feet of landfill space.
