Reversible Chandelier by Studio EFO from korea

‘Reversible Chandelier’ is a modern Chandelier, which is innovative interpreted with LG OLED Panels. Thanks to thin and flexible features of OLED panels it makes possible to change a conventional chandelier into shape-changeable lighting following the user’s needs. With this idea I designed R-Chandelier to transform the direction of light, ranging from sphere, half-sphere to focus. It is consisted with rings, OLED panels and a base part. OLED Panels are hanged between two rings and connected electrically. The whole lighting units are hanged from the controlling base on the ceiling. In the base the cable-winding system is integrated, which is made of bevel gear, rotating motor, and various sized pulleys. With this mechanism people can control the heights as well as shapes of the chandelier, and this leads various qualities of the light. When the lighting is moved to upper position it functions like a bulb, in contrast on the down position all light is focused with narrow downed angle.
‘R-Chandelier’ is a module system. With a various composition of the rings user can make diverse sizes and shapes according to the aims, and this affect the whole atmosphere of the space. For examples, 10-ringed chandelier could be installed for huge halls, and 3-ringed smaller one could be favored in smaller and private spaces.
It is not only innovative, but also very classic at the same time. I tried to mix the traditional and emotional property of old chandeliers with the lightness and safety of the OLED panel lightings.
