Resources Saving Bench by Cho Young-jik from korea

CONCEPT
In urban parks or streets, one can see discarded cans and bottles. The Saving Cube serves both the main function of the bench, which is to provide a place or rest, and the function of collecting materials for recycling. The clear, acrylic collection bins located below the bench induce people to conveniently discard the bottles and cans of beverages consumed while resting on the seat into the bins. This collection of bottles in a variety of forms performs the role of attracting the gaze of the users, and improve the city's environment while simultaneously providing a pleasant space for citizens.

FUNCTION
The function of collecting recyclable materials
When the Saving Cube is filled up to capacity with cans and bottles, the local environmental sanitation workers retrieves these materials on the regular periodic basis.

The function of providing rest areas
The cubes fulfill the basic function of benches by providing a pleasant space for rest within the urban environment.

The aesthetic function
As cans and bottles with various forms enter the Cube, they shed the image of waste materials and are perceived instead as aesthetic objects, thereby promoting the enhancement of the city's visual environment.

MATERIAL
The cubes are manufactured using Transparent Acrylics.
