rehabilitation of the disused hospital by changing the tray into a inhabited hill (Saintes, France) by leclerc Jerome from france
designer's own words:
The « green design » should take advantage of the quality of the context (inhabitants, culture, nature) to create a new vision, a new way of living.
The project refuses to change the disused hospital into housing. Its buidings will become equipments for the new district.
He prefers to attract future tourists and inhabitants by creating a new image : a contemporary ruin buried under a hill.
This image is established by a continuity of dwelling buildings and places displayed in left spaces around the hospital and according to the cardo-decumanus, the Roman plan at the origin of the city.
This work with topography is typically Roman (the roman arena in the valley near a site is a good example of it.)
