refrigerator and freezer by anke salomon from germany
designer's own words:
This combination of refrigerator and freezer has a unique inner movable wall system, which can be arranged in several various spacing configurations separating the cooling compartments. The dividing wall can be placed at four different positions or it can be removed. It has five individual doors that slide up and down. The object is designed long and flat, so that the food can be stored beside each other and not behind. The user gets a fast overview over the food.
The inside is kept simple to allow an easy cleaning. There is a shelve in the refrigerator compartment that can be removed. Rubber bands in the freezer compartment prevent the food from falling out. These bands are attached via suction cups.
The refrigerator and the freezer are illuminated by a bluish tinted back light inside the compartment. A temperature measuring strip that goes through both compartments has several sensors to show the temperature.
The target group for this project is young people, which live in a single household. They put value on personal possession, but they do not want to be tied down to a certain place.
