the design of the ‘smua’ doorhandle is based on the idea that two pieces of a different material flow out of one source to then meet each other in perfect harmony and form a doorhandle.

the front piece of the handle is made out of die-cast aluminum, while the rear piece is a thermoplastic elastomer molded onto the metal. This way of integrating multiple materials makes the object at first sight seem like a conventional doorhandle, while upon touch you discover the surprise and sensoriality of the soft backside.
