Public Shredder

designer's own words:

Public Shredder proposes ‘second life’ to the promotion material. The project is emerging from meeting the growing market demands for participatory low cost events in the field of design and art, to be added with the opportunity to consume an individual product at the end of the event.

Design festivities are a sustainable paradigm. While we present innovative ‘eco friendly’ products and novel ‘green’ solutions, we produce a large amount of paper waste: visiting cards, catalogues, press packages, postcards etcetera. Public shredder is coming to save that paradigm in a playful manner.

By building a simple structure to accommodate many (desktop size) paper shredders, project proposes a starting point for a one week public play. During the installation life span, the transparent empty plastic boxes will be filled with different colors and textures from all over the city. Queuing to the shredder will provide an exceptional integration point for locals and visitors during international exhibition. In the structure different formal configurations can be found; from a wall to landscape.

At the end of the week, project can be titled as “public art” and end result contribute to the city. Option 02 is to sell them in an auction individually as city souvenirs.
