designer's own words:
What’s a door handle?
It’s an extended object of a door and gives you the opportunity to open it.
As an extended object it makes holes in your wall and feels rather cold. I started to wonder of possibilities that helps stop those two problems. Fixed or unstrained doorstops, hydraulic hinge, wooden or plastic toppings. Those are additional items. So I came up with a solution that helps both problems in one product: a natural rubber based handle. It is hygienic, shock absorbing and has high insulation value, endless color swatches.
How to make it:
Take a negative mould from any good selling shape you have. Place a metal pen in the mould. Close the mould and fill it with natural rubber. Open the mould and your handle is ready to be used. There is no need for any finishing.
Note:
-The natural rubber can be switched with other materials such as Integral polyurethane foam, silicone, latex or other polymers. Please think twice for the environment. There is even the possibility for 2-K injection molding.
-Other products that proven its value in rubber, we touch it every day, are a mobile phone covers, bicycle handgrips, backpack handles or toothbrushes,….
