Profile doorhandle by sander hofstee from netherlands
designer's own words:
the doorhandle is made using an extruded steel profile. the profile is cut and rejoined in a similar way as construction beams used in large-scale buildings. this adds strenth as the depth of the profile increases and allows for less weight than a full profile of that size. it also acts as an esthetic detail, only to be seen upon a closer look. using simple techniques like lasercutting and welding, the doorhandle can be manufactured in both left and right versions in various shapes and sizes without the need for expensive molds. the part which is held in use can be cut as well for a more ergonomic grip. the doorhandle is lightweight and uses a minimum of material. the standard spindle slides in another profile and is held by a grub screw. alternative spindle sizes can be used by incorporating a different profile. the doorhandle can be finished in various ways, by adding a standard nylon rings and roses, the set is complete.
