Personal survival capsule for living space by Jo from korea
designer's own words:
Let's face the reality, The future is not always bright.
In fact, the environments that are surrounding us are getting more hostile to us, natural and man-made disaster, crime, war, etc.
So now, we need a life protection from those threats more than any time. However, do you have a shelter, panic room, fire room or survival pot you can actually access right now at where you are? The reasons that we don't have one of them near us are they are too big, too heavy(for even the live load limits) and too expensive for general consumers. To bring it into our living space, a room or office, I think the survival capsule has to be compact and optimized shape. So I came up with a corner fitting survival capsule for 1 person(personal). Starting from considering 'a curled up human body' as a embryo. I employed the egg structure(which is one of the most space optimized and protected shapes for it) for the protection shell structure. Then I shaped it out for corner-fit. With the thermodynamically isolated shell,I put life supporting systems for 24 hours, communication system and other essential features. As result, I was able to design the personal survival capsule that has relatively small sizse(76.3X76.3X110.8cm) and acceptable weight(207Kg) for a general house and building.
I believe the popularized pesonal survival capsule will save more lives than convnetional products due to better accessibility.
