Deep within the last remaining forest resides humanity’s last hope for
salvation of the planet. This hero is composed of all that is natural
and good on our planet: water, earth, fire and sky. It’s name is
Pazzy, “the peaceful one”. Pazzy’s mission is to defend Mother Earth
from the destructive forces of waste that have arisen from humans’
apathy towards sustainable living.

“PAZZY” is a character design project exploring the consequences of
humans’ mass-production and mass-consumption on the environment and
how, if human apathy prevails, a world crisis will ensue. In Pazzy’s
futuristic/post eco-apocalyptic world, horrific monsters composed of
landfill wastes and environmental poisons threaten all life and humans
are at a loss for ways to save the planet and thus, themselves.
Pollution, global warming, and shortages of natural resources
challenge what remains of Earth.

Pazzy’s character design is a visual cue towards ecological
consciousness for both children and adults. The colors blue and green
represent the colors of water and earth; the flame atop Pazzy’s head
signifies vitality and a universal connection; the tail symbolizes
Pazzy’s relation to animal life while also serving as a useful
appendage in battle. Finally, Pazzy’s belly button indicates the
relationship between him/herself to humans because it too has a
mother, a source of life, just as every person has a mother. Human
beings must realize that we are also Mother Earth’s children and we
must respect her and fight like Pazzy to keep her alive and well.

Pazzy will be marketed as either an animated series, a comic book, or an educational video game for children. Although Pazzy’s small size and cute character make it seem impossible
for him/her to be successful against enormous monsters, Pazzy’s
tremendous power originates from gentleness and determination in
his/her hope to save Mother Earth. Much like the children to whom
Pazzy would be marketed, optimism and willingness to make a positive
difference could be just what saves the world. “PAZZY” represents how
people can work together to maintain a sustainable and harmonious
coexistence for all life on Earth for years to come.
